Foreign tourists visiting Romania increase in the first seven months of 2012
The number of registered foreign tourists visiting Romania in the first seven months of the year increased by 12.6%, compared to the same period last year. There were 4.1 million arrivals and 10 million overnight stays, the National Statistic Institute (INS) announced today.
The arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania registered at border crossings were 4.4 million, up 4.1 percent. Most of the foreign visitors came from European countries, most of them being from Hungary (33.5 percent), Bulgaria (20.2 percent), Germany (9.2 percent), Italy (7.2 percent), Poland (6 percent) and Austria (4.5 percent).
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad registered at border crossings were 6.2 million, up 0.5 percent.
In July, compared with the same month in 2011, the arrivals and overnight stays in tourist accommodation increased by 12.5 percent.
